Description

I watched Mindhunter while thinking about this painting and was drawn to the theme of duality and how people split themselves to survive, perform, or manipulate. Both figures on this canvas have been opened with surgical voyeurism. The left character has the window open into their true intentions. The right character has been sliced open to reveal their mind’s eye—an audaciously eerie nod to the duplicity dormant in everyone. I knew I was done with this piece because on one of my last strokes I saw a bolt of lightning. I knew it was time to put the brush down and unveil my latest direction. I love challenging myself and embracing my duality in art and life.
